Celebrities aren’t just setting trends on the red carpet, they’re also leading the charge in sustainable transportation. From Ritesh Deshmukh‘s Tesla Model X to Madhuri Dixit‘s Tata Nexon EV ‘Dark Edition’, more and more celebrities are making the switch to electric cars. Not only are they reducing their carbon footprint, but they’re also setting an example for their fans to do the same. Show your support for a greener future and join the electric revolution with your favourite celebrity. Let’s take a look at a few celebrities who were early adopters of electric vehicles.

  1. Ritesh Deshmukh

Actor Ritesh Deshmukh was gifted a red-coloured Tesla Model X on his 40th birthday by his wife Genelia D’Souza. He is the 2nd Indian to own this model. Essar CEO Prashant Ruia owns a blue-coloured one which was the 1st Model X in India.

The Tesla Model X is a 7-seater electric SUV which can go from 0-100 km/hr in just 3.2 seconds! It sports a 100 kWh battery and has a range of 475 km. Tesla hasn’t entered the Indian market yet. These cars are currently being imported into India through the private route. Ritesh also owns a BMW iX electric SUV.

  1. Mandira Bedi

Actress and television presenter Mandira Bedi bought a Tata Nexon EV during the Covid lockdown. Pictures of Mandira Bedi posing with the blue Nexon were shared by Tata Motors on their official twitter account.

The Nexon EV is a compact electric SUV. It sports a 30.2 kWh battery and has a range of 312 km. Prices start at Rs 14.99 lakh.

  1. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni recently bought a Kia EV6. He was spotted in his new car along with fellow cricketers Kedar Jadhav and Ruturaj Gaikwad in his hometown Ranchi. Dhoni purchased the EV in ‘Moonscape Grey’ colour. The Kia EV6 was recently launched in India and is currently priced at Rs 59.95 lakh. The following social media post was uploaded by a Dhoni fan:

The EV6 sports a 77.4 kWh battery. It accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in just 5.2 seconds. The claimed range is 528 km.

  1. Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit bought a Tata Nexon EV ‘Dark Edition’. The Dark Edition of the Nexon EV starts at Rs 16.29 lakhs. Madhuri Dixit’s husband Dr.Shriram Nene shared a video of the car on his Instagram handle. This special edition of the Nexon EV is different from the regular Nexon EV just cosmetically. The performance and specifications are the same. The Dark Edition sports charcoal grey alloy wheels, dark-themed interiors and a premium ‘midnight black’ paint job.

When the couple lived in the US, they owned a Tesla.

  1. Mahesh Babu

Mahesh Babu owns an Audi e-Tron. The black-coloured car was delivered to Mahesh Babu by the head of Audi India, Mr Balbir Singh Dhillon. The e-Tron is priced between Rs 1.01-1.19 crore. This electric SUV has a range of 484 km. The 5-seater electric car sports a 95 kWh battery. The car goes from 0-100 km-hr in just 5.7 seconds!

Apart from Mahesh Babu, cricket star Virat Kohli also owns an Audi e-tron.
