Comparing Hyundai Creta Electric vs Mahindra BE 6: Battery Capacity, Range & Charging Options

Hyundai’s first mass-market electric car, the Creta Electric, is expected to shake-up the Indian EV market and give tough competition to the no.1 electric car company at the moment, Tata Motors. But Hyundai Creta Electric is not the only contestant in the ring. Mahindra has also made a big splash in India’s electric car market with not one but two launches: BE 6 and XEV 9e. In this blog, EVJoints brings you an in-depth comparison between the Creta EV and the BE 6:

Hyundai Creta Electric vs Mahindra BE 6

Battery & Range:

The Hyundai Creta Electric comes in two battery options: 42 kWh & 51.4 kWh. The 42 kWh variant offers a range of 390 km, while the 51.4 kWh variant offers a range of 473 km.

The Mahindra BE 6 also comes in two battery options: 59 kWh & 79 kWh. The 59 kWh variant offers a range of 535 km, while the 79 kWh variant offers a range of 682 km.

EV Charging:

Both battery variants of the Hyundai Creta Electric can charge from 10-80% in 58 minutes using a CCS2 DC fast charger at public EV charging stations. The car is compatible with Type 2 chargers at public EV charging stations for slow charging. With an 11kW AC home charger, the 42 kWh battery variant of Creta EV can charge from 10-100% in 4 hours, and the 51.4 kWh variant can charge from 10-100% in 4 hours 50 minutes.

The Mahindra BE 6 supports CCS2 DC chargers with a capacity up to 175 kW, which can charge the electric car from 20-80% in just 20 minutes. The car is compatible with Type 2 chargers at public EV charging stations for slow charging. With an 11.2kW AC home charger, the 59 kWh variant can charge from 0-100% in 6 hours, and the 79 kWh variant can charge from 0-100% in 8 hours.

Design & Features:

When it comes to the design, the Mahindra BE 6 is the clear winner with its futuristic & sporty design.

The two electric SUVs more or less have the same features. However, there are a few differences between the two which are listed below:

The Creta Electric comes with a 3-spoke steering wheel, while the Mahindra BE 6 comes with a 2-spoke steering wheel.

The Creta EV comes with an 8-speaker Bose sound system (with sub-woofer). The BE 6 comes with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

The Creta EV comes with 6 airbags. The BE 6 comes with 7 airbags.

The Creta EV has a boot space of 422 L while the BE 6 has 455 L.

Pricing:

Prices for the Creta Electric 42 kWh variant start from Rs 17.99 lakh, and for the 51.4 kWh variant start from Rs 21.50 lakh.

The Mahindra BE 6 is available in three variants: Pack 1, Pack 2 & Pack 3. Pack 1 comes with the 59kWh battery pack. It is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh. Its premium version named ‘Pack 1 Above’ (which also comes with 59kWh battery) is priced at Rs 20.50 lakh. Pack 2 also comes with the 59kWh battery pack.It is priced at Rs 21.90 lakh. Pack 3 comes in two battery options. ‘Pack 3 Select’ variant comes with the 59kWh battery and is priced at Rs 24.50 lakh. The 79kWh battery variant Pack 3 is priced at Rs 26.90 lakh.
