VinFast officially began deliveries of its VF6 & VF7 electric SUVs in select Indian cities. Globally, Japanese electronics maker Sharp unveiled an EV prototype.

MoEVing partners with Tata Motors to deploy commercial EVs for last-mile delivery.

Electric mobility company MoEVing has partnered with Tata Motors to lease & deploy 700 electric small commercial vehicles (eSCVs) across major cities in India. The fleet will consist of Tata Ace EV & Ace Pro EV models, which will be deployed in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru & Kolkata.

The tie-up introduces a business model where Tata Motors dealerships will own & maintain the EV fleet, while MoEVing will handle logistical operations. MoEVing currently operates a fleet of around 2500 EVs, including 500 cargo electric four-wheelers, which the company describes as the largest such fleet in India.

Karnataka to install 1500 high-capacity EV charging stations under the PM E-Drive scheme.

Karnataka state government is preparing a proposal to develop 1500 high-capacity EV charging stations under the central government’s PM E-Drive scheme. These charging stations will offer fast-charging facilities ranging from 60 kW to 240 kW. The state’s Energy Department will install these high-capacity charging stations at strategic locations such as bus depots, national & state highways, freight corridors and logistical hubs.

SwitchLabs announces expansion of electric truck fleet.

A relatively new electric transport solutions provider SwitchLabs has announced the inclusion of 52 electric trucks in its fleet. In the 1st batch, SwitchLabs has procured two units of the Tata Prima E.55S EV. These have been deployed at JK Lakshmi Cement plant in Durg (Chhattisgarh) for transporting fly ash.

The Tata Prima E.55S EV is a 55-ton electric truck designed for heavy-duty applications in cement, power, steel & mining sectors. SwitchLabs will soon deploy more such electric trucks at another JK Lakshmi Cement plant in Sirohi (Rajasthan). In total, the company will operate 25 of the 52 electric trucks from the two JK Lakshmi Cement units. These electric trucks will be operated under long-term contracts of 8-10 years.

EV share in car sales reach 5%.

EV sales in India is shifting gears with their share in total passenger car sales nearly doubling in the first half of FY26. EVs now account for about 5% of all passenger cars sold, compared to 2.6% at the end of FY25. Electric car sales grew 108% Y-o-Y to 91,726 units in the first 6 months of FY26, up from 44,172 units in the same period last year. Tata Motors & MG led the charge.

Electric cars are expected to cross 7% industry market share by this year-end.

Deliveries of VinFast VF6 & VF7 begin in India.

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially started the deliveries of its VF6 & VF7 electric SUVs in India. Launched in September 2025, the delivery of the two models has currently started in Kochi & Jaipur. The Vinfast VF6 comes equipped with a 59.6 kWh battery pack that works with a front-wheel drive (FWD) system. The VF7 comes with two battery options: 59.6 kWh & 70.8 kWh. It gets an all-wheel drive (AWD) feature as well.

Half of the cars sold in India by 2030 will be EV, hybrid or CNG.

India’s switch to sustainable mobility is being shaped by a multi-fuel approach that combines EV, hybrid & CNG technologies, according to a recent report by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) through its e-mobility initiative, the India Electric Mobility Council (IEMC). According to the IESA report, India’s journey toward electrification is distinct due to its ‘multi-fuel, multi-pathway’ approach. Alongside electric mobility, other alternative fuel options such as CNG & hybrid, are gaining momentum, each addressing specific regional & operational requirements.

Key Takeaway: By 2030, half of all cars sold in India are expected to use electric, hybrid or CNG powertrains, supported by a diverse multi-fuel strategy.

Japanese electronics company Sharp to launch an EV.

Electronics manufacturer Sharp plans to launch an EV under joint development with Hon Hai Precision Industry (commonly known as Foxconn). The Japanese electronics maker unveiled a prototype of its compact minivan-type EV.

The jointly developed EV has been tentatively named ‘LDK+’. The car’s spacious cabin has been designed in a flexible manner which smartly utilizes the available space. The front seats can totally turn back to face the passengers, the centre console features a built-in table & projector, while a movable screen allows occupants to watch movies or hold meetings, effectively turning the interior into a lounge or office.
