Simple Energy develops India’s 1st rare earth-free EV motor.
Simple Energy has announced development of rare earth-free motors for EVs. The company has developed these motors at its facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The innovation addresses supply chain vulnerabilities that have affected the global EV industry. Heavy rare earth elements, primarily sourced from China, are typically used in EV motors due to their high torque density & compact size. Disruptions in the supply of these materials have prompted manufacturers to seek alternatives.
The newly-developed motor delivers the same performance & torque-driven character, without relying on heavy rare earth elements. The patented, in-house technology replaces heavy rare earth magnets with alternative compounds and is powered by proprietary algorithms that manage heat & torque in real-time.
Key Takeaway: Simple Energy has developed rare earth-free EV motors, reducing reliance on imported resources. The new technology maintains high performance while addressing supply chain vulnerabilities.
