The Mahindra BE 6 is a coupe SUV based on the auto manufacturer’s new INGLO platform. This is a BE (born electric) vehicle, which means that it’s been developed from the ground up as an EV.
Here, EVJoints brings you an in-depth analysis of the BE 6 including its advanced battery and how Mahindra has focussed more on alleviating range anxiety by means of larger battery capacities and multiple EV charging options. The SUV’s architecture, features, pricing and competitors have also been discussed below.
Battery & Range:
The BE 6 will come in two battery options: 59 kWh & 79 kWh. The 59 kWh variant offers a range of 535 km, while the 79 kWh will provide a range of 682 km. Mahindra also claims a 500 km range for the 79kWh variant with the air conditioning running. BYD will supply its Blade batteries for the Mahindra BE 6, which features LFP chemistry.
Battery Warranty:
Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery pack which is applicable for the first owner of the vehicle. In case of an ownership transfer, the battery warranty will be 10 years from the car’s delivery date.
Charging Time, Speed & Compatible Chargers:
Both variants of the BE 6 are compatible with CCS2 DC fast chargers and Type 2 connectors for slow charging at public charging stations. They support chargers with a capacity upto 175 kW, which can charge the electric SUVs from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The charging port is placed on the rear-left.
Home Charging Options:
AC charging options include an 11.2 kW AC charger which recharges 0% to 100% in 8 hrs (for 79 kWh) & 6 hrs (for 59 kWh). The 7.3 kW Type 2 AC charger can recharge from 0% to 100% in 11.7 hrs (for 79 kWh) & 8.7 hrs (for 59 kWh). These AC chargers have to be purchased separately.
EV Architecture:
The BE 6 is built-on Mahindra’s scalable & modular all-electric INGLO platform which employs a 3-in-1 powertrain made up of the motor, inverter & transmission.
All of Mahindra’s upcoming electric cars will be based on this INGLO skateboard architecture which has been co-developed by Mahindra & Volkswagen.
Features, Interiors & Exteriors:
The BE 6 electric SUV features a coupe roofline and a futuristic design. The 59 kWh variant will come with 18-inch wheels, while the 79 kWh variant will sport 19-inch wheels as standard (with an option of 20-inch wheels as well). In terms of features, the car sports dual integrated screens (one infotainment touchscreen and one driver’s display), multi zone AC, 7 airbags, 2-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, 360-degree camera system (which can also be used via smartphone), dual wireless phone charger, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The infotainment system comes with 3 pre-set themes: Calm, Cozy & Club with custom music, ambient lighting & climate control adjustments.

In addition to the above, the top-spec variant will feature dual-zone climate control, full panoramic sunroof with laminated glass that blocks UV rays, auto park functionality, fully-automatic driver’s seat with memory function and a BYOD (bring your own device) function, allowing people to plug-in external devices and stream content.
The BE 6 features 455 L of bootspace, plus an additional 45 L of frunk storage (good enough to keep the portable charging cable). Mahindra claims the 79 kWh variant can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr acceleration time in 6.7 seconds.
Pricing:
The BE 6 will be available in three variants: Pack 1, Pack 2 & Pack 3. Pack 1 comes with the 59kWh battery pack. It is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh. Its premium version named ‘Pack 1 Above’ (which also comes with 59kWh battery) is priced at Rs 20.50 lakh.
Pack 2 also comes with the 59kWh battery pack. It is priced at Rs 21.90 lakh.

Conclusion:
Mahindra’s new BE 6 has added a new dimension to India’s blossoming EV market. It has been strategically positioned in the country’s competitive compact electric SUV market. With its radical design, the car will definitely attract a lot of attention on the road.
