Indian consumers have accepted Electric Scooters as a viable alternative to petrol scooters due to rising fuel prices. These e-scooters are eco-friendly, have lower running costs and lower maintenance costs. Established automakers like Bajaj, Hero MotoCorp & TVS are in the market with their electric scooters, but EV startups like Ather Energy, Ola Electric, Okinawa, Ampere & Komaki have dominated the market. The biggest advantage of switching to an electric scooter is low running cost. These scooters are super silent and have a zippy acceleration. Let’s have a look at India’s top 5 electric scooters:

  1.   Ather 450X

Bangalore-based Ather Energy’s ‘Ather 450X’ is one of the most popular electric scooters in India. In July 2022, the company launched an upgraded version of the scooter named ‘Ather 450X Gen 3’. It sports a 3.7 kWh battery which offers a certified range of 146 km. It goes from 0-40 km/hr in just 3.3 seconds and the top speed is 90 km/hr. There is a decent 22-litre storage space, alloy wheels, all-LED lights, a 7-inch touchscreen and the scooter comes in 3 colour options. Ather Energy offers a 3 year warranty on the battery. Prices start from Rs 1.55 lakh.

  1.   Ola S1 Pro

Ola Electric rocked the EV ecosystem when it introduced its scooters. The company offers 3 variants of its electric scooter S1: S1 Air, S1 & S1 Pro. Out of the three, the S1 Pro is the most popular. It comes with a 4 kWh battery which offers a certified range of 181 km. The S1 Pro accelerates from 0-40 km/hr in 2.9 seconds and the top speed is 116 km/hr. The scooter offers a storage space of 36-litre, a 7-inch digital instrument screen, all-LED lights, alloy wheels and comes in 11 colour options! Prices start from Rs 1.39 lakh.

  1.   Okinawa Praise Pro

Gurgaon-based Okinawa has two popular electric scooter models in the market: Praise Pro and iPraise. Out of the two, the Praise Pro has been liked more by the consumers. It comes equipped with a 2 kWh detachable battery which offers a range of 88 km. The top speed is 58 km/hr. Okinawa provides a 3 year warranty on the battery. Features include alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, digital speedometer and dual disc brakes. The Praise Pro is available in 3 colour options. Prices start from Rs 99,000.

  1.   TVS iQube

The iQube sports a 3.04 kWh battery which offers a range of 100 km. The scooter comes with 17-litre storage space and is available in three colour options. The iQube goes from 0-40 km/hr in 4.2 seconds and top speed is 78 km/hr. Features include all-LED lights, 5-inch digital screen and music player on dashboard. Prices start from Rs 1.12 lakh.

  1.   Ampere Magnus EX

The Magnus EX hosts a 1.8 kWh battery which offers a range of 84 km. The top speed is 53 km/hr. It comes in only one variant which is priced at Rs 77,249. Five colour options are available. Features include tubeless tyres, detachable battery, digital dashboard, dual shock absorbers and a USB charger. Ampere provides a 3 year warranty on the battery. Customers can also get an extra 2 year warranty for an additional cost.
