UP &amp; Maharashtra shared the top spot with each having a share of 14% in Q42022. But in Q12023, UP overtook Maharashtra. Electric two-wheelers come a distant second with 14% share. Electric cars have less than 1% share.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Maharashtra:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After UP comes Maharashtra. The state reported a 208% year-on-year growth in EV registrations in 2022-23. The EV sales in the state are led by two-wheelers which make up 86% of all sales. As per data from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Maharashtra has the highest number of public <a title=\"India\u2019s Top 5 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations or networks\" href=\"https:\/\/evjoints.com\/ev-guide\/indias-top-5-electric-vehicle-charging-stations-or-networks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EV charging stations<\/a> in India. Electric two-wheelers account for 91% of the total EV sales in the state. State capital Bengaluru\u2019s power supply utility BESCOM launched an EV charging app called \u2018EV Mithra\u2019 to help residents locate EV charging stations in the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Tamil Nadu:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tamil Nadu is 4<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in EV sales. A big portion of EVs sold in the state are electric scooters and high-priced three-wheelers (not e-rickshaws). Tamil Nadu\u2019s EV sales consist of higher value products in which local companies have a stronger presence. The state registered its highest annual EV sales growth in 2022 with a 606% jump year-on-year.
