If you ever wondered whether an electric car can handle a long-distance journey in India, here\u2019s my honest experience. I recently drove my Mahindra XEV 9e<\/a> from Noida to Chandigarh to Ludhiana and back to Noida in a single day. I covered around 800 kilometres, and the trip went smoother than I expected.<\/p>\n

Let me walk you through how I planned it, where I stopped to charge, and how much it cost me.<\/p>\n

Planning My Route with EVJoints<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since I knew the day would be packed, I needed to plan things well, not just the route but also the charging stops. I used the EVJoints app<\/strong><\/a> to map out my trip and check for charging stations that would work with my car. It helped me see where I might run low and which stations had fast chargers, so I wouldn\u2019t waste time or stress about range.<\/p>\n

That step gave me the confidence to actually go ahead with this plan.<\/p>\n

Starting the Trip<\/strong><\/p>\n

I left Noida early in the morning with 60% charge in my EV battery. My plan was simple. I would drive straight to Chandigarh, top up the battery there, head to Ludhiana, and then return to Noida.<\/p>\n

First Charging Stop \u2013 Chandigarh<\/strong><\/p>\n

By the time I reached Chandigarh, my battery had dropped to about 15%. I stopped at a DC fast charging station<\/a>, HPCL Vishal and charged my XEV 9e from 15 to 85%. The charging session was quick and easy.<\/p>\n

Later in the day, I headed to Ludhiana and then started my return journey toward Noida.<\/p>\n

Second Charging Stop \u2013 Ambala<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the way back, I made a short stop at Ambala to top up the battery again. I only charged for around 15 minutes, just enough to comfortably reach home.<\/p>\n

The charger I used was from ChargeZone. It was rated for 180 kilowatts, and my car was charging at a speed of 110 kilowatts, which was really impressive. Fast chargers like this are still not very common, but when you find one, it makes a big difference.<\/p>\n
