But here I am after completing 2036 kilometres across four cities in my Mahindra XEV 9E and I can say this with confidence \u2013 electric vehicles are more than ready for the highways.<\/p>\n<p>I planned every stop with the <a href=\"https:\/\/evjoints.com\/tools\/ev-trip-planner\/\">EVJoints Trip Planner<\/a>. It showed me charging stations along my route estimated my battery % age at each stop and kept my mind at ease. Here is how the journey went.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a breakdown of how the journey unfolded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Route Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gurgaon to Jaipur to Bhopal to Ujjain and back to Gurgaon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I split this into three legs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leg 1: Gurgaon to Bhopal via Jaipur and Kota<\/li>\n<li>Leg 2: Bhopal to Ujjain<\/li>\n<li>Leg 3: Ujjain to Gurgaon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leg 1: Gurgaon to Bhopal via Jaipur and Kota<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I left <a href=\"https:\/\/evjoints.com\/tools\/ev-chargingstationlocator\/gurgaon\/\">Gurgaon<\/a> with 89% state of charge and drove to <a href=\"https:\/\/evjoints.com\/tools\/ev-chargingstationlocator\/jaipur\/\">Jaipur<\/a> for a short meeting. I added charge at a Jio-Bp station to reach 90% then headed out on the expressway. I set Adaptive Cruise Control at 85 kilometres per hour and let the car do most of the work. The advanced driver-assist felt next level. I waited twenty minutes, added 19% then the power cut. No worries because <a href=\"https:\/\/evjoints.sng.link\/Cd9ps\/5hsg\/ig6x\">EVJoints Trip Planner<\/a> had shown me a 60 kilowatt charger at BPCL Porwal in Jhalawar. There I spent 53 minutes adding 56% and then drove on to Bhopal. I arrived at 10 PM with 31%.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, I charged a bit at the Statiq station by <a href=\"https:\/\/evjoints.com\/tools\/ev-chargingstationlocator\/bhopal\/\">Bhopal<\/a> Lake, took the car out for a drive around the lake, and visited the Bhojeshwar Mahadev Temple. I left Bhopal with 60% and stopped for food at Ode the Dhaba which has multiple ChargeZone and Jio-Bp guns plus two Adani guns. I added 23% in 20 minutes before another power cut. There I used the <a href=\"https:\/\/mobilitystation.jiobp.com\/\">Jio-Bp charger<\/a> to add 36%, then later added another 15% when the power came back. I did not wait to reach full charge because the trip planner had shown a reliable Volttic charger near Garoth on the expressway for the next day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Distance covered:<\/strong> 200 kilometres<br \/>\n<strong>SOC used:<\/strong> 45%<br \/>\n<strong>DC charging done:<\/strong> 74%<br \/>\n<strong>Charging time:<\/strong> 50 minutes<br \/>\n<strong>Charging cost:<\/strong> \u20b91133<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leg 3: Ujjain to Gurgaon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I started with 89% then drove to the Volttic charger near Garoth. I stopped at Dhanwa Resort in Kota for a delicious meal but the charger had no power.<\/p>\n<p>From Kota, my plan was to charge again at Hotel Uttarayan or Mannat Restaurant near Kothun. When I reached Hotel Uttarayan, power was out again. So I continued to Mannat, which thankfully had multiple options \u2014 Tata, Jio-Bp, ChargeZone and even Adani (though not working). I plugged into ChargeZone but ended up sharing the gun with another EV. Because of this, I got just 22 kW charging speed. I needed around 60% to reach home and wanted to keep 20% buffer, so I waited until I reached 75%. This gives peace of mind throughout the trip.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not chase 100% at every stop<\/strong> \u2013 Charge based on range needed. A buffer of 15 to 20% is usually enough if you have planned your next charger well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid cutting it too close<\/strong> \u2013 Start charging when you still have 150 to 200 kilometres of range left. This will help in case of power outages or busy stations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carry multiple charging apps and keep some balance in all<\/strong> \u2013 Sometimes a gun may be free on one app and busy on another. Avoid being stuck due to wallet issues.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take breaks at food spots with chargers<\/strong> \u2013 Combine charging and meal stops. This saves time and reduces trip fatigue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drive steady on highways<\/strong> \u2013 ACC at 80 or 85 kilometres per hour can give excellent range. I got 563 kilometres using just 100% SOC this way.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep an eye on charging power<\/strong> \u2013 Shared guns slow down charging.
