MG Windsor EV is one of the most talked about electric car in the market, courtesy MG’s one-of-a-kind battery rental scheme, Battery-as-a-service (BaaS). On the other hand, Tata Nexon EV is India’s best-selling electric car. If you’re thinking about these two models and are feeling a bit unsure about which one to choose, you’ve come to the right place. In this blog, EVJoints brings you an in-depth comparison between the MG Windsor EV & the Tata Nexon EV:

MG Windsor EV dominates when it comes to interiors. Its rear seats are especially comfortable with plenty of legroom & headroom. Other positives include ventilated front seats, 135-degree lounge-like reclining rear seats, panoramic sunroof, 640L bootspace, 6 airbags, 360 degree camera system & a 15.6 inch infotainment touchscreen.

Design & Features

The Nexon EV comes with a smart two-spoke backlit steering wheel, 12.3 inch infotainment touchscreen, JBL surround sound, air purifier, rain-sensing wipers, 360 degree camera system, 6 airbags, 350L bootspace and electric sunroof.

Pricing:

MG Windsor EV has been priced very competitively. With the BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) option, the car is available for Rs 10 lakh. If you opt for the BaaS scheme, MG will charge you per kilometre, on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ model. MG has fixed that to Rs 3.50 per kilometre. The battery rental, where you pay for the battery @ Rs 3.50 per km, covers 1500 km per month running, which works out to be Rs 5250 per month. Apart from the battery rental program, the Windsor EV is also available for full purchase. This means customers can buy the electric car by paying in full or financing it as a single unit (vehicle+battery) without having to opt for the BaaS scheme. Prices for the Windsor EV (with battery) start from Rs 13.50 lakh, and go up to Rs 15.50 lakh.

Prices for the Nexon EV 30 kWh battery variant start at Rs 12.49 lakh. For the 40.5 kWh variant, prices start at Rs 14.59 lakh. For the 45 kWh variant, prices start at Rs 13.99 lakh.

Conclusion:

Tata Motors has reaped the benefits of being the first mover in India’s electric car market. Its Nexon EV is the country’s best-selling EV and is a household name now. MG entering the arena with the Windsor EV has given buyers another option to consider. Both these electric cars are neck and neck at the moment.

Go to a showroom, checkout the interiors & exteriors for yourself, go for a test drive and choose what grabs your attention.
