As of now, Ola is exhibiting continued dominance in the electric scooter space and consolidating its leadership position. Along with the S1 Air, the S1 X gives consumers another affordable electric scooter. Experts say this will not only hurt other electric scooter players in the market but might even take away sales from petrol scooter manufacturers. Ather recently launched its most affordable electric scooter as well.
Apart from electric scooters, Ola also introduced four electric motorcycle concepts. The motorcycles on display were Roadster, Cruiser, Adventure and an electric sportsbike named Diamondhead. The battery & motor specifications are yet to be revealed since these are concepts.
Roadster:
Out of the 4 electric bikes, the Roadster seems to be closest to a practical and production-ready design. It is likely to be renamed as ‘Cyber Racer’.
Cruiser:
The Cruiser is a low-rider with a big battery casing and a massive rear tyre.
Adventure:
The Adventure has a rally motorcycle design.
Diamondhead:
The Diamondhead electric sportsbike is the one that caught the most attention due to its radically futuristic design.
When launched, the Diamondhead will take on the Ultraviolette F77.
A while back Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder & CEO of Ola Electric, had tweeted a poll asking social media users about the type of bike they like. He gave four options. But it seems he is bringing all four.
When compared with the electric scooter market, the electric motorcycle segment has relatively less number of options.
Ola Electric also announced the opening of 100 new service centres across the country.
The company also introduced the updated version of its MoveOS software. ‘MoveOS 4’ comes with Ola Maps, tamper alert system, dark mode, facial recognition, ride journal and improved hypercharging. Ola has been expanding its EV charging network (Ola Hypercharger). It currently has around 500 charging points at 200 Hypercharger stations in 100+ cities across India.
Conclusion:
Ola Electric’s aggression & ambition is being lauded by all. After introducing the new S1 X, the CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said, “This scooter will end ICE age.” The company plans to double its production capacity within the next 6 to 9 months. Ola is also progressing rapidly towards its cell manufacturing unit, which will be ready by the end of this year. The company & its CEO are optimistic. Ola Electric is the no.1 player in the electric scooter market and the way things are going, it’ll be difficult for other players to upstage them.
