Electric vehicle (EV) technology has come a long way over the years, especially in terms of the EV’s mileage (or range). New EVs can go hundreds of kilometres on a single charge, making them a good option for those looking to save money amid rising petrol/diesel prices. Also, EV charging stations are becoming increasingly common. This allows for people to own an electric car and take longer road trips, as charging stations are likely to be available on the way to their destinations.
For some, a long range means completing longer journeys without the need to stop, while for others it simply means not having to recharge their electric car regularly.
At present, it is undeniable that no other fuel option gives you savings such as an EV. This is mainly due to lower per unit electricity prices and higher mileage of EVs.
Recent developments in EV battery tech has enabled a considerable increase in electric car mileage. This has eradicated the short range problem of first-gen EVs. Apart from battery tech, automakers are also working on features to recharge the battery while the vehicle is in motion (regenerative braking).
