In the electric two-wheeler market, scooters have been received really well by the Indian consumers. However, since there aren’t many electric motorcycle models available, companies are aiming to gain a significant market share by introducing high-tech electric bikes. We expect around 20 electric motorcycles to be launched in the next two to three years. 1)Oben Rorr : Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer ‘Oben Electric’, will start shipping its only product, the ‘Rorr’ electric motorcycle from January 2023. Oben Electric has received 17,000 bookings since its debut.The Rorr sports a 4.4 kWh battery pack which gives a range of 150 km. The bike can accelerate from 0-40 km/hr in under 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 100 km/hr. Features include an LCD instrument cluster and full LED lighting.The Oben Rorr has a price tag of Rs 1 lakh.
2)Matter 07 : Gujarat-based Matter Energy will display its electric bike, tentatively named ‘Matter 07’ at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo. This will be the 1st geared electric motorcycle in India. It will feature a 4-speed manual gearbox. The electric bike is expected to go on sale from April 2023.The Matter 07 hosts a 5 kWh battery pack. Features include LED lights in the headlamp, tail lamp & indicators. A 7-inch touchscreen and a 5 litre storage compartment make this proposition more attractive.
3)Okinawa OKI 100 (or OKHI 100) : Okinawa is the country’s 2nd largest electric two-wheeler company in terms of sales. After dominating the electric scooter market, it is all set to take its first step into electric motorcycles with the Okinawa OKI-100 electric bike.The new motorcycle will feature a 4 kWh battery which offers 150 km range and a top speed of 100 km/hr. This will be a compact bike (similar to the Honda Navi). Features include a big halogen light as front headlight and keyless ignition. The bike is expected to launch in March 2023 and will cost between Rs 1-1.20 lakh.
4)Orxa Mantis : Orxa is a Bangalore-based electric two-wheeler startup that aims to manufacture electric sports bikes. The company is planning to launch its ‘Mantis’ electric motorcycle in March 2023. The motorbike will feature a 9 kWh battery, which offers a 200 km range and a top speed of 140 km/hr. The expected price is Rs 3 lakh.
5)Ultraviolette F77 : Yet another Bangalore-based EV startup ‘Ultraviolette’ is trending a lot these days courtesy its F77 electric motorcycle. The company has launched the electric bike and delivery will commence from January 2023.The Ultraviolette F77 will come with two battery options. The 7.1 kWh battery version will offer a 200 km range and the 10.3 kWh one will offer a 300 km range. The 10.3 kWh battery is the largest battery pack designed in India. The company claims the bike can reach a top speed of 150 km/hr. The F77 is the country’s only electric two-wheeler that has dual channel ABS from Bosch.The two versions are priced at Rs 3.8 lakh & Rs 4.55 lakh respectively.
