I recently had a wonderful experience with my Mahindra XEV 9e. I was traveling from Panchsheel Park in Delhi to Greater Noida at night — a total distance of 49 km.
I started my journey with 71% SOC and reached Greater Noida at 65%. So practically, I travelled the 49 km in just 6% battery drop, which comes to about 8.2 km per percent.
This was not done with any focus on getting good range. The AC was on throughout at 25°C, I was driving alone, and the traffic was normal for around 10 pm.
The Learning
For me, the biggest takeaway from this trip is simple: EVs can be more efficient than we think, even in everyday conditions. No special effort, no compromise on comfort, and still a very respectable efficiency.
It gave me confidence that the XEV 9e can handle city commutes and longer trips with a trip planner, without constantly worrying about range.
