Ola Electric, Ather, Okinawa, Ampere & Hero Electric are the top brands when it comes to electric scooters. TVS Motors, Hero Vida & Bajaj are also trying to make a mark in the segment. Let’s have a look at India’s top 5 upcoming electric scooters:
1)Simple One : Bengaluru-based Simple Energy, an electric two-wheeler startup, has announced that its 1st electric scooter ‘Simple One’ will be launched in March 2023. It will be available in two variants. The regular version will get a 3.2 kWh fixed battery and a 1.6 kWh removable battery. This version will have a range of 236 km and a price tag of Rs 1.10 lakh. The second version will have a 3.2 kWh fixed battery and two 1.6 kWh removable batteries. This version will have a range of more than 300 km and a price tag of Rs 1.45 lakh.
2)Kisbee : Mahindra-owned Peugeot will launch its Kisbee electric scooter by the end of 2023. The Kisbee will sport a 1.6 kWh removable battery. It will offer a range of 42 km and a top speed of 45 km/hr. A test version of the electric scooter was recently spotted on Indian roads. Expected price is less than Rs 1 lakh.
3)Hero Electric AE-29 : Hero Electric is planning to launch a new electric scooter tentatively named ‘AE-29’. It will sport a 3.5 kWh battery, which can be fully charged in 4 hours. The new scooter will offer a range of 80 km and a top speed of 55 km/hr. As far as features are concerned, the AE-29 will have a mobile charger, LED lighting and anti-theft system. The expected price range is Rs 85,000-90,000. It will launch in June 2023.
4)Vespa Elettrica : The ‘Vespa Elettrica’ is the 1st electric scooter from popular Italian company Piaggio. The Elettrica has been in the European market since 2018 and is now on its way to India. It sports a 4.2 kWh battery which takes 3.5 hours to fully charge. The scooter offers a range of 100 km and a 70 km/hr top speed. It is ideal for daily city commuting. Expected launch date is June 2023 and expected price is Rs 1 lakh.
5)TVS Creon : TVS marked its entry in the electric scooter market with the iQube. Now, TVS is ready with another e-scooter named ‘Creon’. The upcoming scooter is likely to sport a triple battery pack with a range of 80 km. The iQube was equipped with a dual battery pack. The Creon will offer features like anti-theft alert, active vehicle diagnosis and navigation assist. The scooter is expected to accelerate from 0-60 km/hr in 5 seconds. Expected price is Rs 1.20 lakh and it is expected to launch around June 2023.
